Under car fuel line clips / clamps /supports

Hello people,

So today I wanted to cut and remove a rusted, leaking bit of return fuel line from under the car and replace it with a section of braided hose but I was halted at almost the first hurdle.

How of earth do you remove the clips/clamps that hold the hard lines to the underside of the car. No where can I find how to properly remove them without breaking something.

Please don't tell me you have to take the carpet up!!

Thanks
James

hi James

i don't recall having to do anything like taking the carpet up....I do recall having to replace all of the clips, think they are in two parts but could be wrong.. it's been a long time.. if my son pops over later this weekend I'll see if his memory is better than mine as he helped me at the time or should i say I helped him..:)

Go to OPC buy new rubber and mount clamp

Remove remains of old clamps rubbers etc but DO NOT snap stud/pin off the body

Fit new rubber and place clamp over rubber and hit it with hammer till seated

JOB DONE !

See my 944 GBC thread !

Hope this helps

I suppose 6mm is too big. In our project car it was 4mm. Bne careful with those plastic parts, you can easily strip them.

The original clips are 3 part:

1. White plastic peg with a 6mm allen key drive (looks like a long mushroom in cross section)
2. A Metal bracket that holds everything on that is held in place by 1.
3. A rubber 'block' that is asymetrical and has different diameter holes for the fuel, fuel return and brake lines.

1. & 2. are no longer available from OPC and they supply the part shown in the picture = one piece black plastic clip and peg combined.

As per the previous post the hardest bit is not stripping/breaking off the threaded stud hanging down from the body.

If you get stuck with sourcing any of these, let me know as I have various spares both old and new.

Yours

Chris

Finally!!

They're off. They were the variety that are one piece that push on to the thread. No screw or allen head, no push release. Stupid design really, real potential to snap the studs. I just had to be very patient and tease them off, wiggle this way wiggle that way...

I'd show you a picture of what they look like but I can't work out how you put a picture in a post.

Thanks for your help

James
