Underbonnet Felt?

Guest

New member
Hi -would anyone know what type (Thickness?) of underbonnet felt I should buy & a supplier?

The felt is missing on my car....

Cheers!

Mike.

Why not leave it off ?

Mine had no felt when I bought it, so I polished the underside of the bonnet instead [&:] I think it weighs quite a bit, so it'll help the bonnet stays too.

It's not neccesarily missing. It may not have been fitted at all. I think '88 and after, they didn't fit it (but don't quote me on that!)

On my 924 the felt was in very bad shape, and replacing it brought huge benefits in both soundproofing and looks. The 944... well I guess it has better soundproofing all-round so you may not notice the difference so much; as Mike says, they actually stopped fitting it at one point. The foam comes in two parts, ready-cut. Very nice quality but pretty pricey... can look up the details if you want more info.

My 88 944S doesn't have sound deadning. The only aggrevating problem with that is the wreaths of steam coming off the drivers side of the bonnet driving around town in the rain. Which I can live with, unitl I have the exhaust manifold ceramic coated which I doubt will be soon.

Neither my 88 Lux or my 91 Turbo have soundproofing, maybe they did stop this after 88???
