Guys, I posted on here recently about how im getting wet carpets in my 944 (and it isnt through taking the twisties too quickly [
] ).
I am in the process of identifying where the leak is getting in and having took the carpets up (middle section) I noticed that the driver and passenger footwell areas have a sort of underlay beneath the carpet (sort of like a black plasticky/rubber with yellow card beneath it. The underlay is soaked through and the yellow material (seems like thick cardboard) is rotting.
Im not sure whether to remove this underlay stuff permanently. Would there be any consequences other than extra noise? Can I replace it with anything else such as typical carpet underlay?
I have attached two photos to try and show what I am referring to. Any advice much appreciated as always.
Cheers
