Underside cleaning and treatment

I am told the underside of my c4s has quite a lot of corrosion and would be a good idea to steam clean and treat it.
Has anyone had experience of this cleaning in and around London?
Thanks

Daft Q, but have you actually looked underneath?

Most of the underbody is covered with plastic liners - not sure what you are being told is corroded?

Good point and yes I did briefly sometime ago. The exhaust is corroded, front shocks and I am told the rear drop links! The coffin arms were replaced as they were creaking somewhat.

An underbody clean will do nothing for any of that.

Which firm are telling you need to have this done?

The guys who service and fix the car although they are not offering to do the work. They say there is a lot of dirt, mud etc. underneath and it looks like the car has been left in a field!

Please don't!.

Steam will not do anything for corrosion anyway[&:] your probably find the Garage looking at your car are Twats.

The exhaust system on the 996 was built out of Pig Iron to save the company profits.

Unfortunately In the UK's damp climate will Corrode!.

Yours probably looks no different to any other, but a customer with a Porsche must have money to spend "Tell them to shove it".

Tend to agree with that - doesn't do any harm to wash the salt off the subframe and suspension after winter, which you can do by jacking the car and using a pressure washer and traffic film detergent, but steam cleaning not essential - also you'll find that as the steam tends to blast away good grease and lubricant as well as muck you may well end up with a load of rattles and squeeks you didn't have before - and then they'll probably want to sell you a lube job as well!

Thanks all, appreciate your comments.
Agreed it wont resolve existing corrosion but surely a steam and subsequent wax will prevent anything further?
