Underwing trims

Following on from comments in another thread I thought i'd start this one up because I find this is a very annoying thing on 944's. The daft little underwing trims almost always appear to not fit correctly. I don't think i've ever seen a 944 where they fit nice an snugly and look like they are supposed to be there. I've just found one hanging by two of its three mounting points so it has rotated.

As far as I can see the problem appears to be:-
1) the actual shape of the moulded trim doesn't appear to fit very well inthe first place.
2) It appears that over time the trim seems to distort and twist therefore pulling at the welded lugs that they are bolted to and causing the right-angled flap that is rivetted/screwed into the wing trim to crack and snap
3) The mounting points appear to be quite far in-board meaning that when the trim twists it has quite good leverage against the welded lugs and eventually pulls them off.

Has anyone actually had this trim repaired satisfactorily so it looks like it is actually attatched securely??

I'm so tempted to get some sill covers fitted and do away with them altogether but am a bit uncomfortable about getting too far away from the original look of the car (despite the Boxter 17" wheels!!). By the way I don't seem to have any problems with the longer part of the trim that extends from the wing and along the underside of the sill to the rear wing.
