Hi there,

Can all 3.2's run on unleaded without modification and if so is superunleaded necessary of will they run quite happily on normal unleaded?

Thanks and all the best.

Martin.

I'll most probably be flamed for this, but, here goes.....

Due to the closure of nearly all the petrol stations near me, I full up at Morrisons with their normal unleaded and the car runs fine.

Everything since late 356s have sufficient valve seat hardness for unleaded. It used to be in the FAQs on Autofarm's website - it may still be.

Anybody tried Tesco's 99RON unleaded? What do you think? What does it cost?

Some other car forums reckon its pretty good, but maybe less mpg and some concerns regarding the lack of additives to keep things clean.

Won't make any difference on a 3.2 due to the lack of a knock sensor - i.e. ignition timing fixed.

I only use Optimax because of the detergent package, not the higher rating.

Surely you can adjust the FQS (fuel quality switch) on the ECM to "read" 98 RON fuel. Above that your right as the fuel system is dumb.

See attached on the Steve Wong site http://www.911chips.com/fuelsys.html

My car was set at position 4 for low RON fuel, after speaking to SW I changed it to "0" to read 98 RON. Tesco's 99 RON won't improve things beyond that point, but I recenty paid over a £ a litre for Optimax so would be interested in the Tesco's option if it were cheaper and did the same job without any long term adverse affects.

hi lowlander, i have been using unleaded in mine now for 3 years or more and never had any problems, i sometimes use optimax(depemding on how£ss are)lol, seems to run a bit better but then again it may just be in the mind.
i drive to germany often and over there shell sell a 100 octan fuel, not yet tryed but think i will sometime.
i have never had any mods to the fuel system/ingnation.
