Unreliable remote opening

Atfield

New member
Remote opening of my 2004 late986 Boxster becoming increasingly unreliable.
I've replaced batteries on both original and spare keys and although led led flashes bright when button depressed, central un/locking not activated.
Any suggestions...?

They all do that Sir, sudden death of the remote fobs appears to be a feature, there are loads of wifes tales on how to reactivate but none actually work, After 5 days of non use the remote is ignored by the car as its conserving power but unlocking with the key manually reactivates the car to look for the remote signal.
If the issues you are having is with regular use of the car then its the fobs packing up or a problem with the module in the car - Is there any dampness under the passenger seat?
Usually its just the remotes - but they are quite expensive to replace.
Just another foible of Porsche ownership

If you unlock the driver's door with the key turn on the ignition (no need to start the engine) within ten seconds. You will get two beeps as a warning that time is running out. Strange thing on mine is that if the alarm does go off the remote deactivates it.

Cheers,

I have a similar problem on my 994 C4S and the OPC has quoted around £150 to replace the key fob and re programme to the car.You may be able to negotiate on the price if you are having other work done.
