Unusual sound when I turn! Sometimes!

I need some advice,

I've got an intermittent sound which is driving me crazy because I have no idea what it could be.

It emanantes from the rear LHS wheel and is like a short, sharp but loud buzz, as if the wheel is rubbing on the wheel arch but only for a split second and it only happens when I'm going around a roundabout. It isn't the wheel rubbing on the wheel arch btw, [8D]

Could it be something like the wheel bearing or should I be looking in other areas like moving brake caliper, etc.

I really am at a loss for ideas because I have yet to wheels off due to one reason or another but would really appreciate any ideas if you have them, before I take a look this w/e

Ta muchly

Spence I think this could be your brake disk backing plates. They are behind the disk to protect it from stones and debris and are held on by 3 bolts. Normally one (or more) of these bolts will have rusted away by now causing the shield to rattle or scrape where it shouldn't when cornering.

You can check without removing a wheel or even jacking the car up, just get under the car and wiggle that plate [:D]
