Like others have been doing with their OPCs, my brother has been hounding OPC Reading about the lack of updates for PCM2.0, and after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, got an email from them on Thursday saying they have "chased up Germany and they have confirmed that there will be an update disc coming out at the end of July or begining of August".

Maybe all the nagging will come to something at last........

No indication yet, but the 2005 maps were £350 (inc VAT and 15% off) in February, so I expect the new ones will be about the same.

I understand that Gerard Mahoney at SatNavShop has 2008 maps for PCM1 16 bit systems, but if you have an 8 bit system you are stuffed.

Spoke with a Porsche Centre;

Porsche offer a navigation software and disc update for the PCM 2 which will give you the latest disc set on offer from Porsche, brief description as follows: [/LIST]
Subsequent update of navigation data to MY '08 data version

A new update to the model year '08 data version is available for the navigation data in Porsche Communication Management 2.0 (PCM2.0). The maps cover new countries and are much more detailed. There are more points of interest (POI) available for selection. As a result, considerably more tourist information (hotels, restaurants, car parks, service stations, etc.) is provided.

Cost of upgrade is : £349.56 + vat
Workshop installing cost: £ 77.00 + vat

Total £501.20 inclusive of vat

This has only just been released by Porsche and can be installed while you wait.

And it still doesn't offer TMC!

Agreed, £350 is ridiculous.

Any news on us old PCM1 owners?

I was just browsing through the PET (like you do) and noticed something I don't recall seeing before:

000.044.900.82 - Navigation PCM1.0 Update (911 & Boxster 98-02) - cd-rom update pcm 8 fold - £367.97 +VAT.

I have no idea of the date of the update, but it might be worth checking out to see if it compatible with 8-bit PCM.

Just got an email from OPC Reading to say that the PCM2.0 2008 navigation CDs for Europe are now available. The part number for the retrofit kit is 000.044.901.20 and it is £349.56 +VAT.
