You were probably used to the old worn mounts, so the new ones should be noticeably different. It would have been good if you had dyno'd the car before and after or even taken some 30-70mph etc times to prove the pulley. Right, off you go and do the next mod... [:D]
 
Glad that you felt the benefit of your work Chris, it makes me wonder just what the difference is between the RS and the Cayman S mounts off the shelf quite possibly very little. I doubt if there will be a great difference in the charge rate of the Alternator but would suggest keeping an eye on the water temp since that pump will be running slower but if the rad and channels are clear it didn't ought to be a problem. I'm unsure of the sensors on the Cayman engine but it may be possible to get a temperature reading using one of the EOBD monitoring units which can be operated off a mobile phone. Maybe if you do some downloads and one of the other members owning one and a standard Gen 1 car for a comparison baseline. Those results should be interesting.[;)]
 
I had a similar thought Kevan - no noticeable difference on the temp gauge today (mix of 90mph ish on motorway and country roads plus some inevitable heavy traffic). Hartech have always said that the gauge reading is not definitive but I guess it's all normal people have?. I have an iPad app. and the OBCD wireless sensor is 'in the post' so I will see what this provides in terms of temperatures. It is worth mentioning that I have a low temperature thermostat fitted so I am pretty sure, given the position of this in the system and the earlier opening temperature, things will be just fine. I know there are some under drive pulleys that are much smaller than standard but the RSS one is not one I would class with them. Hartech have always maintained that the issues with bore scoring potential are not specific to cooling system capacity or cooling area rather the position of the thermostat and it's opening temperature.
 
I have duplicated this post for those who maybe do not frequent the technical articles section often.

Did approx. 150 miles today to test out the recent work/additions so thought i would report back.

Wow - what a difference this has made to the car - it feels a little more eager under the pedal which I suspect is the RSS under drive pulley, not huge difference but enough to feel a little more responsive. I have an alternator output check on my list of minor stuff to do and will report back if charging is an issue with the smaller pulley. I suspect all will be well as it was with the power steering but I will still have a check.

The biggest improvement has been the new RS engine mounts and new front mount - car feels tighter, slicker gear changes and much easier to put into 1st gear. This is perhaps indicative of the state of the replaced items - I was slightly worried that there would be more noticeable vibration/harshness or noise with the RS mounts but the reality is there is slightly less and it feels so much more focused to drive.

Very pleased with the results on these two items!.
 
Glad it's all turned out tickety-boo Chris. I'm sure the new mounts will have contributed to the tighter feel of the powertrain, given the state of the old ones; and good to hear there are no apparent cooling issues too. Worthwhile monitoring everything for a little while though. Thanks for posting and what's the next project? Jeff
 
Good question Jeff! In no particular order - front radiator hoses (supply and return, both sides), flex brake pipes all round, cloth flex hose (one at slave cylinder end). GT3 master cylinder and front top suspension mounts.
