Update on warranty concerns

C4S al

New member
Hi,

This has probably been threaded on here before but last week I enquired about getting the Pioneer Avic Sat Nav installed on my C4S. A local installer who stated they did contract work for my local OPC stated the warranty would be completely voided if I went ahead and got the Sat Nav installed.

However I contacted my local OPC today as I am extending the warranty next Friday stateing the facts the chap had said and no problem. Only the Sat Nav component is not covered all else is fine. He was aware of the audio installer and the OPC actually recommended them to me. Clearly some confusion by the audio firm. Suffice to say I will not be using them.

So Richard looks like you put me in the dog house with my wife!!. Having seen the Avic in your car has to be done!!!!

Regards Alan.

If you are anywhere near me (Maidenhead, Berks) and would like to have a look before you take the plunge you would be welcome.

The Porsche/Bose audio system and the PCM is not covered under the extended warranty anyway...

Would it be possible to move the aircon controls down to the CD holder position and fit this in a non PCM equipped car ?

Just thinking I could give the wife my new Becker 7900 for the Forester (as she needs iPOD and Bluetooth) and upgrade mine... without looking like just spending "more on your car not mine"

Unfortunately I don't think there is a trim to go around the aircon panel if you move it to the CD slot - also, I'm not sure it would fix in there easily. Moving it to the lowest position is relatively easy. The trim for the bottom position is £2.33, and a "cubby" for the CD slot is about £16. There are plenty of write-ups on Renntech about fitting double-DIN systems to facelift 996's.

Good to know there are no warranty issues - I think that would be one step too far...

IMO it might be wise to get a written confirmation from PGB before going down this road. It could end up both expensive and with tears.

Better be safe than sorry?

Just a lawyer watching over you all [:-] [:-]
