UPDATE what lurks underneath !!

I bought this 83 lux just for some parts so i wasnt botherd about the condition of it and didnt bother checking it out but i was very surprised what i found underneath the carpet once i stripped the interior out. the car has had half a red boot floor stitched into it,a new number plate panel loosly tacked on and the n/s rear quarter is 2" deep in body filler, the floor is rotten with holes on the n/s front and the front seat was only held in with 2 rear bolts as the threads had striped on the front to but the floor is rotten around the rear mount and where the seat bolts in is half ripped up off the floor. Glad i didnt crash it on the way home as the seat would have probably ripped off the floor .Not sure what the sills are like but im going to cut them open for reference pictures. Oh and the floor was about an 1" deep in water from a hole under the battery !!

Ouch! Photos like that make me lie awake at night, worrying ... Red floor stiched in because of rust, or because of damage? I guess it highlights (again) the reason for telling people to get a PPI if they are not very confident they know what they are looking at (and for.) Oli.

It actually drove fine (and stopped),its just a pig of a car where everything is held together with self tapping screws !!.Boot floor and rear panel look to have been replaced due to accident damage and the front seems to have seen some action as well as the badge panel is screwed on rather than welded. The floor in the cabin area has had red oxide primer sprayed over the rust holes. To be fair the previous owner probably didnt know about it and i didnt even bother checking the car over.

".....galvanized so there's no rust" - how many times do we see that on ads? [8|] [:D][:D]

ORIGINAL: zcacogp I trust it was cheap ... and the bits you want are in better nick than the chassis! Oli.
It was cheap enough and i only bought it for the roof which is in perfect condition .It does have a lot of good parts fitted it was mainly the body and interior that was tatty (dash has more cracks than it does plastic).

[/quote] Don't suppose you have the centre console storage compartment thing with the lid attached do you ? Hinge broke on mine so the lid is no longer joined to the compartment, so after a replacement at some point. Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike, how are you and the car doing? I'm off to Oulton in the morning early doors for a bargain price trackday - fancy meeting up for a coffee?!

Turns out that the sill/rear quarter is more body filler than metal ,really !!. The dented area above the rear light is not something ive done thats the state it was it under the filler. The sill was like paper and all i did was grab the edge with one hand and folded it all the way back. The arch just collapsed and ive taken a few pics so you can see the size of the filler that fell out and the amount !!
