Updated Sat Nav disks

I was just wondering what the easiest way is to get updated Sat Nav DVDs? I bought my Boxster used, and I am pretty sure the disks are original from 03, which is to say they are out of date. Can you just pop into a dealer and get new disks? Do they charge for them? Can I just get an update online and burn them (legally that is).

A cricket box would also be useful.[;)]

There are cheaper aftermarket alternatives, try a search in Boxster and 996 forums for suggeations.

I had my 06 987 Boxster S Sat Nav updated last year at my local OPC, at a cost of £350, its much improved and I know longer drive across fields, however you could buy a top of the range Tom Tom.

Just remember, its a PORSCHE and nothing comes cheap,

do you realy want a little black box stuck to your windscreen leaving marks to imform all that their a Sat Nav in the car,

hope this is of some assistance

Steve

I had mine updated a year ago from 2003 version, tried all options to do it as cheap as possible but found had to go to OPC as new CD's include all europe as well as UK routes (no choice on this) and also the sat nav unit requires an upgrade before the discs will run. Took about 45 mins and cost £300 at JCT Leeds for me. Once upgraded hide the old discs as if you revert back to the older version in error it will crash the sat nav system.

I found a small company selling updated disks for most cars as long as DVD based, cost under £50 ,not allowed to put links to his site because of the forum rules but happy to email the web URL if you pm me, he has a good selection for Porsche .
