Updating headlight bulbs

I had a dipped beam bulb go so needed a new set. I've looked at HID kits but didn't want to muck about with things to much and the decent kits from places like HIDS4U seem to be about £200 so thought it was time for a fairly cheap upgrade session.

I picked up a set of the Philips X-Treme power H7 (autoexpress product of the year) from an eBay shop for £21.88 delivered

I also picked up a set of H6W LED side lights for £9.99 from
http://www.aceparts.com/all-led-bulbs/led-side-light-bulbs/superlux-led-ultra-bright-sidelight-h6w.htm
which look quite good although they are making me want a HID kit even more [;)] as the light from them is very white.

The problem comes with finding some better full beam bulbs which on facelift cars are H9 (AFAIK pre-face lift are H7) I can't seem to find many people doing a decent H9. I did find some PIAA ones that look good but they are about £55 a pair !!

I've got the Aceparts HID kit on my car & it's been an excellent upgrade. Quite easy to fit after you figure out the chinese/english instructions []

I've got these as replacements for the high-beam & they seem to work pretty well. Not as white as the HID's but then no "normal" bulb is.

+1 re recommeding the AceParts HID kit. Alan, the owner, is a porsche fan and active on the Piston heads porsche forum. think the price is only 125 and well worth it and not too difficult to fit - do a search on here, there's a techy posting about it and (i think) one from me about my experiences of fitting it (around Nov 2007 ish).

I've a pre-face lift and use Osram Nightbreaker H7's for high beam, which are very good.
