Updating sat nav..........

Just wondered if anyone with the Communications console has ever looked into prices for updating the sat nav CDs? My 3 CD European pack carries an August 2002 date (car was delivered in March '03) but I've got no idea how often NavTech publishes updates nor, for example, whether they produce a lower price CD which just has GB data on.

Last time I looked at updating/purchasing some Nav discs from the OPC for PCM1 they were £214 each!!

Interesting to note that the PCM fitted to the 987 still doesn't allow post codes to be entered; also, its database is incorrect: the address of the Nottingham OPC is the site from which they moved at least a year ago! Doesn't give much confidence in the rest of the data; wonder if it will show the A43 dual carriageway section past Silverstone - or the M6 toll road?[;)]

I looked at updating my disks a while ago however they are now £360 + VAT. I think I will make do with the 2002 disks.

I too found today the update on PCM2 is £360 that is extorsion but another way to loko at is with that same £360 you can buy an updated map @ £5.99 for the next 60years. At £360 there is no value for money in that.

I am not sure what to do now whether to update or not.

It is for the pack of disks but that is the only way they are available.

The latest ones went on ebay for over £200.00 recently so you could get them cheaper but I would not want to spend that much on something from ebay.

Same problem on the 997 - I'm trying to get a surge of interest from the membership on this so we can pressure for the upgrade. New disk due Aug 05 at £400 - see the 997 forum...

Is that £400 for the DVD version of the satnav disks?
Can the individual countries be "backed up" from the DVDs to a CD disk for use in the "older" CD driven satnav systems?
Any ideas?[8|]
