Hi

I have just obtained a 996 Turbo. My first impression is "Wow it's a bit lively"

How can I tell if it's got the power upgrade from factory?

Also I just stuck some juice in the tank (or at least I think I did) and the guage is still reading in the red with the light on...the computor states 0 miles till empty.

Has anyone got any clues.....could it be the I've just paid to fill the car up with air?

Cheers

Unless you fill your tank to over half full it won't re-calibrate and will continue to read as it was before. I always fill to full to avoid that.

Power Upgrade:
Type all the options codes (which you can find on a sticker affixed to the underside of the hood) here:
http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp

If it was factory fitted then it will be on the sticker.

Fuel reading:
It is somewhere in the manual; the car needs to be reasonable filled up before it can give an accurate reading when empty.

Enjoy your fine acquisition.

Always fill up the tank in full.... w/h Shell Optimax... it drives better...!!
X50 is the upgrade you are looking for... in the registration document and under the bonnet sticker...
It is highly unlikely that you paid for a TT and you got an X50 or S, and vice versa....
X50 available mid02 and S available mid04.
Cheers

Damn fuel tank caught me out last night...all the way to Derby and back on an empty tank, PCM reading -- miles till fuel...[]

As the others say, fill it up or the gauge remains the same ( I was late and it wasn't Optimax).

Thanks for the info.

I put a further £35 in and it now registers FULL. Thats got to be mad. How can I put £25 of fuel in and it not recalibrate or register? It had me driving like our local Vicar for 20 miles not knowing if I was going to come to a halt.

Well it doesn't have X50....shame but its quick enough....got me thinking though.

I really hope you weren't sold the car and told it had the upgrade...[]

No.....Then I would be gutted..

The previous owner didn't know too much about the car and only covered 100 miles in the year he owned it, but it got me thinking that you just never know.

I checked the codes and amongst them I found "Manufactured from the exclusive range" Any ideas?
Also "Leather covered ventilation cover" ?

Nice one Lee[:)] look forward to seeing it at club night. Suprised with your trade connections you can't phone up Porsche and get them to send you a full spec sheet on the car. They will do this for us normal punters for a fee, trade who knows.
the vent covers........each vent blade covered seperately in leather. Madness!!!

Cheers Laurence.

I know what the codes are now, someone gave me a useful web ad but in the translation came "Manufactured from the exclusive range"....That may be a standard code. I'll talk to the boys at Lindbrook.
