Hi everyone

I am thinking of selling my 1995 993 c4 Cab manual, which I have owned for 4 years and done around 25k miles. Has anyone on the forum upgraded from a 993 recently, and happy to have done it? Will I miss the air cooled engine and its sound?

Thinking of getting a 2 yr old 997 cab c2 (auto). Seen one for approx 50K

Any comments / advise appreciated.

sanjay, I think going from 993 to 997 you'll appreciate the styling.
I do honestly think unless the go for PSE you'll miss the sound...

However the easy use and lower maintenance bills I'm sure you'll be happy with.[;)]

This may not sound like the ringing endorsement but it is supposed to be

I agree, but it is a fair and balanced view of which the OP and myself fully appreciate [:)]

The larger car is sadly a sign of the times, people and Governments wanting more safety on the cars. which does lead to a larger and heavier car, but as pointed out aswell - a quicker one for the meantime [;)]

thanks for all the advise :)

the reason for auto is that my commute to work is 20 miles each way starting in central london over those blasted humps slow moving traffic out to essex on the fast moving a roads.

I love the noise of the 993 engine especially the change in engine note above 6000 rpm, but having now spend about £8000 in maintence over the last 4years new clutch, etc etc I am thinking a bit of hassle free motoring might be good :)

Hi I think from a financial viewpoint it really makes sense, £20-25k only for a car 10y younger! You will get more power, and better all round ability. You will miss the raw aspect of your own car though, so might want to invest in some items which enhanced this "rawness": PSE, short shift if you like that sort of thing (are you going to track it?), or some other items.

I personally have had Parr do some Cargraphics upgrades, including exhaust and a remap amongst other. This would actually be cheaper than a new PSE installation.

Larger, yes, but the 996 C2 manual was 50kg lighter than the 993 C2 manual.
