Urgent help required fitting a rotor arm on an S2

Hi,

Got the new rotor arm today but having problems fitting it

Does anyone know where it has to sit in relation to the housing. It is held on by three allan screws but for it to make contact with the dizzy cab it needs to sit very of the housing. It looks as is there should be bosses between the cap and the part it screws onto otherwise it will have space between its flange and the housing where the locating holes are.

If anyone has fitten one recently can they maybe give me a call.

I replaced mine late last year, and I seem to remember the old one came off and had spacers to space the rotor arm from the backing plate if you kep these spacers they can be re-used. I re-used the old ones behind the new arm, the bolts go through these (IIRC).
 
I have never had spacers!!!!! that could explain a lot!!

Any idea where I get a set - urgently!!!

Bert's problem is everything is off site at present so quick delivery is out of the question. I went to porsche shop - £40 including delivery!!!! (I thought this was expensive)

I think I'll try a breaker - I need these urgently as this is the one week I need the car on the road as I am selling the landrover and I do not get the new merc until 24th!!!

By the way my car has been running with NO spacers - no wonder the arm was knackered and my car was not that smooth sometimes. I still can not believe this!!!!!!!! How was the old rotar arm making any sort of contact?????

Anyway any immediate ideas of where to get these spacers let me know. Also should anyone have the dimensions of these spacers then please let me know too - I might end up amking them on the old lathe in the garage.

If I get time (and weather is OK), ob sat I'll try and get the rotor arm off my S2, photograph and measure the spacers for you, they are only hollow cylinders of plastic about 1/2" long, but must check.

Thanks but figured it out - one nut, two washers and a shim!!!! That on each of the three bolts as a spacer works a treat.

I did manage to get the proper parts today but only from Porsche and these will arrive next week. All breakers refused to sell these - douglas valley who had three S2 engines would not even entertain the thought.

The Improvement!!! unbelievable.....car runs so smooth - can not believe that my rotor arm was attached the way it was and even more surprising was that the car ran at all.

Anyway got that good self satisfaction feeling just now - especially after a great balst on the dual carrage way for 30 mins!!!

wow what a tip ! there must be loads of owners out there without the correct shims/washers installed. This could account for a lot of intermittant problems especially in the cold weather.
This is one of the problems with DIY servicing . They must get discarded I guess. [:(]
 
Yes, easy to loose these spacers as they are just bits of plastic. My new Bosch rotor arm and cap from Bert Gear did not come with new spacers, they may be a seperate part.

Understandable as they would like to sell these S2 engines as fully working.
