Urgent NO Central Locking

Guest

New member
Hi,

My central locking has failed on my 993 although she locks she immediately unlocks again the alarm is function correctly and will set and unset as it should but the doors will not remain locked, I have also lost the red LED's on the doors and the centre console door locking button now does nothing, the alarm does not flash to show a door open but does do it I do leave a door open as it should.

Urgent help required

Regards

Pete

I had a similar problem on my 3.2... which turned out to be a faulty micro switch connected to the lock barrel inside the door..on the 3.2 the locking system is all inter-connected so one faulty component would just cause chaos.. I assume Porsche did change there design much until the 996..

Do you you have same problem if you use the key to lock and unlock the doors..? Does the key work at all..?

could (?) also be a fault / wear with the vacuum mechanism of the central locking unit ?

If a 993 is anything like a 964 as regards lock mechanism/linkages then it sounds just like the fault I had with our 964.
All it was was the ballend in the passenger door had come off the motor arm(it had split).replacement part was atotal plastic moulding rather than just plastic ball end cups.
Because that door was not locking nothing would.

Hi All,

Its fixed!!!!found to be the plug slightly off the brain under the drivers seat, while the car was in for some minor work it was obviously driven by someone who had to adjust the seat by doing so he managed to pull the already half disconnected plug out a little more which caused the failure.......phew was looking at loads of money now all ok, thanks for all the advice
