URGENT!!Windscreen replacement

I am about to have the windscreen replaced on my late '89 model but there seems to be confusion by the company replacing it as to which screen to use. I know that the rubber seal is a 964 part but I don't know if the windscreen is a 911 or 964 part or if there is any difference at all, it may just be the rubber seal.
Can anybody answer this question as a matter of urgency as the replacement is imminent and, if there is a difference, do you know where I could find the part number please?

You need the older screen. The later screen is slightly larger and is fitted with a rubber only (no trim).

Your car should be fitted with a trim in the rubber seal and therefore be the smaller, older screen.

Hi

I have an 87 3.2 which had the older screen with metal insert trim. When replaced I had the latter 964 type which is just rubber and the screen is slightly different.I had it done a least 4/5 years and no problems or leaks. As long as the sreen is designed for the rubber surround you will not have problems.I used Autoglass and they seemed clued up on procedure

Thanks for your replies. I am, as I write, awaiting the arrival of the fitter to do the screen. I'm a little worried I have to say!

Unfortunately, we didn't have any choice who fitted it as it is an insurance claim and the insurance co wanted us to use the RAC. When I initially called, I spoke to a lady in the call centre who seemed to know exactly what I was talking about. However, the guys at the depot who are fitting the screen don't seem to know the difference between the two types of screen so I'm not sure if they've ordered the right one.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

I recently had front and rear replaced. my local opc said they only trust one company to do their screens properly. Unfortuatly they won`t do business with most of the large insurers because of the cap on the cost. So i ended up paying direct and will try and get back as much as i can from insurers....I do have the insert in my rubber by the way...

Enquired about fitting latter seals when i did my body conversion. You can only fit 964 seals if you have a 964 screen so your screen will be a 964 if it has no insert.

The 89 3.2's had a single piece rubber, a 964 part no. and a 964 screen, which is slightly taller.
You can retrofit both to all 3.2's.
