US Spec 912 Headlights

Hi

Question re the headlights, I think I have H5s in the car, they have high and low beam with the side lights in the indicators.

I was going to change over to road legal H4's and move the sidelights up into the main headlight.

Is there anything I should be aware of, will my existing chrome trim ring fit on the new H4, the trim ring is the slim type that you see on all UK 911's from 1972 (I think) until the 1994 964 model or will i need to buy new trim rings.

Thanks
Rob

H4's are very easy to fit, they directly replace your existing units. You may need/want to get new rubber seals too.
Lot's of places do the H4's so shop around, I think I found Eurocarparts the cheapest when I bought mine.

Hi Gavin

Yes I have the type on the white car, I too have bought a set of h4s from eurocar parts in the past, so my existing chrome trim, does it fit over the h4's as on a 911.

From memory the h4 come with a painted black ring that the trim ring sits over the top of, is this the case on the 912 or do i swap the black ring on the h4's for the chrome on the 912. I will take a look tonight, but was just curious.

Cheers

Have not forgotten about the import story, will drop you a private line with some photos and some background, may be useful for other people thinking of doing the same.

As far as I remember the H4's I have don't have surrounds that come off, they are one unit with chrome surround that is part of the light which clips over a tab on the bodywork and is held in place by a screw at the bottom. (did I understand the question correctly?)

Article would be great btw!

Hi Gavin

Yes you did, that was my understanding this is a picture below. Do I have to buy a new set of chrome rings to clip over the to of these h4s.

Cheers
Rob

Hi

I have done a test on my lights and the beam seems to be flat or oval, I cant see it kicking up to either side. Here are some pictures of the lights, would I still have to change my lights to pass UK standards, the lights seem to give off a pretty good beams.

Thks
