US Spec 912 wingmirror question

Hi Guys

Do the chrome wingmirrors adjust on a 912?

I need to buy a passenger side wingmirror as it is LHD on RHD roads, cants see when pulling out of some of the lanes over here.

Do they come in RH and LH, I know it may be a stupid question but without a RH version to look at i cant tell.

Cheers

The mirror on a L or RHD car is the same, the problem is the positioning on the mirror. Sit in you right seat and see if you can see anything out of the driver's mirror. You will have to position the mirror several inches back to see anything

You prob have an early Durant mirror and as Nick says the addition of another mirror is near pointless as you are unable to see into it due to the window post/quarterlight, that's if it's in the 'correct' position.

I have seen people put mirrors further forward on the wing but they look odd to say the least.

Not ideal, but you get used to it, and in many ways having to lean across/forward often gives you a better view than a partial wing mirror view.

A common complaint I'm afraid...

Hi

Thanks for the replies, after posting the question I went home and looked at the position of the drivers side
and as you mentiond realised that the mirror would be obscured. I thought about the postion and how it would
benefit from being further back but then it would look odd.

If I can see the mirror by leaning over and back that would be fine, it is mainly for getting in and out of the garage (past another car) the wife has been seeing me in and out up until now, but i think the novelty is wearing off when i call her out of the house in the rain.

Do you know where to locate one of these mirrors in the UK, I have a couple of US websites that show the part for about $50 not sure what the postage would be though. Any way of telling if it is a matching part they are selling or reproductions.

The drivers side will not adjust, I was going to remove it tonight and give it a grease if thats the problem.

Thanks

As Nick says - you won't be able to see anything out of the passenger side mirror - I have two mirrors on my 66 car - mainly because I prefer to have a 'balanced' look rather than from any form of functionality.

I bought a mirror from Peter Andrew at Transend.

Robert I had a load of fish eye mirrors for sale ages ago most sold to classic car owners that wanted then for in their garages. So they work. Other than that have a ping pong ball on string if you touch it then you are too far over....

As for the mirror on the car don't spoil the line look over your shoulder if this is still not the cure then buy a curved mirror to put on your rear view centre mirror.
