Cosmetic things include Airbag warning stickers on both sides of the sun visors, the radio frequency spacing is different in the US although this can be changed by a dealer. MPG is US but on a 997 you can change this yourself on both the instrument cluster and PCM.
Cruise control is standard as is Home Link but on the later the frequency is different to that in the UK, the transmitter has to be replaced and recoded.
If you have TPM the transducers are also on a different frequency to that of the EU, this isn't a problem but you do have to remember this should you need to replace them.
You mentioned indicators, yes they are Orange by default in the US, however, they are also set to be sidemarkers ie do not flash. A dealer can reset this function.
The Fog lamp is on the opposite side and cannot be recoded, however this can be rectified by a simple rewire.
The headlights are LHD, however, unlike the EU LHD ones do not come with the switch to flatten the beams ie be UK compliant, therefore the complete Lamp units need to be replaced. If you have Xenons this will also include swapping the ballasts over as unlike the 996 RHD units do not come complete.
There are some other minor differences but those are dependent on the options on the car.
If you are looking to buy or import one and have any more questions just ask as I imported my 987 and 986 from the US and did most of the work including paperwork myself.
Oh, whilst I remember the car will also be subject to an IVA (replaced the SVA) test prior to registration.
