Pls can someone tell me the main differences between a US and UK 911 3.2 (1985) Carrera.
I've heard that the US cars have less BHP and are less noisy.....

Pls help

There are a few differences. as you know the main differnce is power. Depending which year your car is, it may have 207 or 217 bhp (I think '85 is 207) compared to the euro 231 bhp.
Catalytic converters come as standard and its more than likely got air con.

It is relatively easy and cheap to increase the bhp on a US 3.2 to euro levels.

I reckon with a SW chip and a Euro pre silencer (dump the cat) you should see euro numbers

but then I could be over estimtating slightly

I'll let you know Jacob [;)] Ta for the pipe - I hope TIPEC was good. Harrison wants you to buy a Caterham now [:D]

Have you spoke to SW about a chip yet?

You should have no problems fitting the pre silencer - take the wheel off, undo the 9 bolts, swap the pipes over, do the bolts up and put the wheel back on. (should take abot an hour and a half)

Good luck!

He's next on my list. I've replaced one of these before - your timings clearly assume that the original bolts can be extracted without the need for grinding....(but I do have my trusty Black and Decker Powerfile handy) I haven't looked at my nuts yet [] but with my luck I'm expecting a difficult job [&o]

Oh yes dont understimate those bolts! If you havent shifted them in a while they can be real devil. Mine took days of have having a bash, not just a quick hour. It was a frustrating job.

I just replaced my silencer, pre-silencer and cross pipe and the only way I could get any of them apart was to drop the heat exchangers and the entire exhaust as a unit. Despite the possible terror of snapped head studs I had a go and it all came off pretty easily with some persuasion from a MAPP torch.

Cheers

Andy
