Used Prices and OPC Check

Hi Guys,

I have been looking around on Autotrader, OPC, Pistonheads etc. for used 987 S.

The ratio of prices seem to be all over the place, for similar specs. Depreciater indexes suggest around 7K for 1st year with av miles, parkers suggests similar.

I am just wondering whats a good way to judge what it should be and also how do you factor in the cost of the options. Ideally it would have the following:

<8K miles,Silver Metallic. 6 Speed Manual, Leather, 19" Wheels, BOSE, CD changer,Heated seats and PCM.

Also can I get Porsche to run a check on it, what is the name of the check and how much?

Thanks in advance

I do not think you will require any checks done if you are looking at a 987 as all will still be under warranty. If the car has full opc warranty and been serviced acccording to the manufacturers directive you can add the next years warranty when it expires without inspection for £725,if you take it to a dealer he will gharge approx £115 but if a fault is found the warranty wil cover the cost of putting it right .

Hi Brian,

My concern is not that it will be covered under warrantly, I am concerned about buying a problematic car.....

I have bad experience before.

Most things will be covered unbder warranty, but worn or corroded brake disks, geometry will not be. At least the PRe Purchse Inspection would pick these up.

As for prices, look at the OPCS sticker prices, and take £7-8k off for its part/ex or trade value - that'll give you somethign to aim for with private sales. You can also factor £2k+ off the sticker price if the car has been on the forecourt for a few weeks and up to 3k off when it nears D-day (ie 90 day stock disposal time)
