V5 Question

Morning all,

Off to get my car in a minute, but as its an import obviously I will need to register it in the UK.

Just wondering what model your V5 states for your 964 RS's? Is it 911 Carrera RS?

Does anyone have a UK car that Porsche registered?

Many thanks in advance for any help,
Bryn.

On my V5 the model is called "911 RS".

This was discussed here I think in the past year, I remember a few people had the model stated above but there were some variations too.

Edited cos my memory isn't what it used to be - see new info below.

It was imported from Germany in 2000.

I just rechecked my docs...
- V5 says "911 RS"
- MOT says "911 RS"
- Insurance says "911 Carrera 2 RS"

I believe mine was registered by Porsche UK - the V5 says Carrera 2 - no mention of RS

I'm lead to believe that the V5 details can be inconsistent to say the least, apparently a dealer who is local to me had a 928 which stated Diesel as the fuel type on the V5!

I think it heavily depends on the attention to detail of the staff at the DVLA office [8|]

You will have to MOT it first, check that the lights are adjusted to UK easily done and black gaffer tape, also clear indicators will fail need orange bulbs, thats about it....

Thanks Des, all done this afternoon with a pass first time [:)] OE orange indicators present and correct and correct RHD headlights already fitted for use in Japan.

Couldn't enjoy it as much as I hoped though as it has an intermittent missfire when driven hard... all power then no power then all power, intermittent poor idle etc. Johnny at Unit 11 suspected air flow meter problem but it was fine all the way there and again for the 30 mile trip home afterwards. Most frustrating [:(] and the worst part is that they can't fit it in to correct the problem, do a full service, geo etc for another 2 weeks [] Gah, I'll just have to polish it until then [:D]

Cheers,
Bryn.

As it is your first "service" I would take it (trailer) to Colin Belton 9Meister and bend over and bite the counter hard.......the car has stood for some time and needs a good going over...the misfire could be some old sh1t in the fuel system, Colin can drain and check it all including the injectors.....a full service a must!

If it needs a new air flow meter, I'd take a pot of Vasseline with you. If you were guessing on a price compared to say an Audi, then think 4 times as much.

Cheers Des, rest assured that a major service is next before any use in anger begins! It was inspected today at Unit 11 and did not need any other work such as bushes, discs etc. Engine is dry and in great health, struts still look brand new, interior is near perfect so I am very pleased indeed [:)] Infact I go as far as to say extatic [:D]. And I haven't even experienced the best bit yet... driving it as was intended!

Don't worry I've owned a BMW M5 (proper handbuilt one) for the last 7 years so I know all too well that expensive cars = expensive parts! Has anyone ever priced the boot carpet for the 964RS? I did, but thankfully mine turned up with the car [;)]

Congratulations Bryn [:)]. Is that other 964 there just a nice coincedence or did you get a lift to collect in style? [:D]

No it wasn't a coincidence - a customer of mine very kindly offered to drive me there to collect it. I sold him that C2 a few months ago.

It was very funny watching everyone on the M62 do a double take as 2 Guards red 964's went past in formation [:D]
