Hello Chaps,
Just heard a rumour that older cars need to get their V5's re-registered with the DVLA on 1st July this year as the old V5's will become invalid then.
Has anyone else heard anything along these lines? I can't find anything that suggests so on the DVLA website.

I believe that this applies to cars that have been off the road since before the time that SORN applied.I have two old MGB's in that category and the MG Ownersclub mag suggests contacting the DVLA in order that you do not lose the reg no.

From 1 July 2005 all existing V5 registration documents will no longer be valid. This will not affect entitlement to registration marks. Motorists who have a valid claim on a vehicle and its registration mark will not be disadvantaged. The V765 scheme which enables old vehicles to be re-united with their original registration marks, will be unaffected by these changes.
