vacuum kit fitment?

Guest

i have recently purchased and fitted a vacuum kit to my 944 turbo, i did everything methodicaly by raplacing whilst i was removing so that i didnt forget where things went.
after hours of checking and re checking i am sure that i have changed every line but i have two of the five T-pieces left over.
like i said everything went back as it came out.
i'm not sure what i have done wrong? can anyone help?

i have two of the five T-pieces left over.

You may well have spares. Different years had different vacuum pipe arrangements; later turbos had a dedicated hose to the FPR for example, some cars have fuel vapour purge and some don't etc.

Just 'cos you've got some spares dosen't mean you've missed something.

When fitting the kit did you bother with anything to more firmly fix the tubing - like cable ties or small jubiliee clips? I've bought this kit and will be fitting over the next week but feel like I would like to secure the tubing.

Cheers.

Killmecorners - I will guess you have an '89 Turbo like me. I also had two T - pieces left over and my 89 Turbo does not have the fuel vapour purge system (its a diaphragm thingy and pipes in front of the fusebox)

Sawood - I didn't.

I presume you have the Promax kit also. I just pushed all the pipes into place and left them. None have budged after a year and many miles of serious boosting.

Opinions of people running at 2 bar boost may differ [:D]

Mine are fine (not that I'm running 2 bar boost [;)]) Rick did sort me out some little "O" rings which you roll over the end of the pipe and then roll back over the union. It works a treat but is probably a bit "belt'n'braces".

I did get the promax kit and I started to fit mine tonight. The pipes feel pretty secure on their own so will give it a go. I only replaced the run between the recirculating dump valve and the fuel pressure regulator which used up the 3 T-pieces so i've 2 left over. I had no need to replace the line to the wastegase since i've recently fitted a DPW so have a reasonable length of tubing left over. It was getting dark so I left it at that for now and will compete the job another time.

Sweetea - The diagram that came with the kit seems to contain alot of components and runs that I couldn't idenfiy or find. Is the diagram for a 250bhp car? If so there seems to be a few runs more than on my 220bhp.

i presumed i needed 5 t-pieces after reading that the promax kit came with 5, i didnt get my kit from promax though so i didnt have any instructions (i'm a tight @rse and sourced the hose and t-pieces myself)

thanks for the info, you have put my mind at rest.

sawood12 my car is also 220bhp turbo(88) so in theory you should have 2 t's left over as i have
thanks

If anyone wants to bring their spare T pieces and tubing along to our dyno day it will help immensely in the quick hook up of the Dyno boost gauge in between cars. I'm bringing along my spares, but the more the merrier [:)]

Hi All,

I've just received a vacuum kit from Lindsey racing & will want some more of the T pieces for my boost guage etc. Anyone got any spare they want to donate?

Thanks
