Valuations for insurance

Hi all hav`nt posted here for a while as things have all been good with the car which cant be said for the new insurance company i`m with!
After taking out a policy and asking if they do an agreed value insurance they confirmed they do and i asked what they need from me to confirm this to which the guy replied "just 6 photo`s,each side ,interior and engine bay" i have now recieved a letter saying they need and independant valuation.
Can i get a local garage to do this for me or does it have to be some kind of recognised company that deals with this ?
Anyone know of anywhere in Essex i may beable to get this done ?
Really annoyed as i changed from my last company of 7 years to save about £80! This company have even put that i have a Pass Plus exam which gives me a discount which i have never had ! I have told them that i want this removed from the proposal form and they tell me the premium will go up even though when i got the quote they didnt even ask if i had this advance driving certificate .I keep asking for a letter for proof that this wont affect my policy if i need to claim but they seem to keep forgetting to send it so as far as im concerned im not insured !
Cheers in advance for any help,
Matt

Also, is it just me or are 3.2 values climbing ?

Paid 10k for my sport in 2007 (23K miles VGC), just seen a couple up at 15 to 17K at 50K miles.

You got a bargain.

Anything that is immaculate, and under 30,000 miles would get double that now. Also, GR 3.2's sell better than most other colours.

How about this:

Well you could make a couple of bob here. PS Sells one for £36K you paid under 10K

Let him sell yours on commission and you would be at least £20K better off [;)]

But then you would be back in the market for a car[:-]

I'm not sure extermely high prices like that do us any real good. People start considering them as investments, not cars.

Your right Richard - Your real investment is the fun you owning and driving the car - if the model you owns goes North putting on a few pounds
Well that also a benefit - I suppose you could call that a further benefit of ownership - some may call it an investment.
