Value of some Fuchs rims?

I have been offered some 15" Fuchs rims in 7 and 8" rim widths - 2 of each.

They need to be renovated but they appear to be very straight with no damage evident.

The seller is not asking much, but what are they worth these days, allowing for the fact it will cost me circa £160 per wheel to get them reanodised etc?

Many thanks

Just my point of view:

If they are about £100 each buy them and store them properly.

They will only go up in price and rarety as they are the 2.7 RS spec, and if they are straight as you think then are a great base for the retro boys/ replica boys.

Someone else will restore them once bought.

Hmm, that's what I was thinking.

I did see a restored (reanodised) set on German ebay last night for 1500 Euros...

Very difficult to value. A lot depends on the part numbers on them and the manufacture date as this determines if they are rare and therefore desirable to the anoraks (i.e genuine RS wheels) or not. Also the quality and the accuracy of the restored finish on them can also account for differences in value. These are some of the reasons you see big variations in ebay prices. Finally you need to be sure they haven't been damaged by previous refinishing such as the rims being turned down too thin. Also make sure they are original as there are reasonable replica wheels out there.

The other way to look at it is as Graham says and take a punt if they are cheap.

Ian.

Good un-refurbished 7 x 15s are worth over £200 each, more if they are 72/73 dated. 8s are worth a bit less, maybe £150 - £175 each. A proper refurb will cost you £175 per rim.

Thanks Nick and all!

Where is the date stamp? I took a punt and they do all have the Porsche serial numbers and the fox emblem on the rear of the spokes, but I can't see a date - lots of other numbers such as offset etc....

Thanks again
