Values and insurance

Here´s a little reminder for those who haven´t paid attention yet.

I recently talked to the CEO of the leading insurance company for vintage cars in Germany. He confirmed that values for 964 RSs have dramatically risen.
For Cup car owners: History and documentation are a big part of the current value of the car, bigger than I thought. The Cup car prices in general seem to go through the roof -if the car is good.

So, a revised evaluation makes sense. Here in Germany it has to be done by a sworn valuer, who is officially licensed -otherwise the insurance companies won´t accept the evaluation. I´ve just gone through this process, that´s why I´m posting this now.

I know it´s a boring aspect of ownership. But we all know of the 964 RS, which was stolen from the street in London.

Yes mum.......did we say we went to spa?

[:D] I know exactly what you mean, Hugh.

That´s why I said it´s a boring aspect. For trackdays these cars are still fantastic - but then, when did you see a 73 RS on track the last time?
And there´s a tendency that precious cars disappear. When I saw your pics from Spa and Zandvoort, I thought that only the Brits still do that with these cars.

And: Hats off to Des - he knew it all before!

You´re right, years ago it was about black wheels and set-up. Now it´s value..... Getting old, I think.

I'm only teasing Hacki - of course you are right, we all need to look at impact of increasing values. Is it really only us crazy brits that still track these things? :)

The interest in the cars has increased too.....it used to be nobody would really comment on the car, apart from the shocking colour ....now people come up and talk. Lets hope it doesnt all get in the way of us going out and having a good time on track!

Hacki, some friends and I went to Portomao and Estoril on track days last year. My friend took his genuine 2.8 RSR. A couple of days were wet and greasy but the 2.8 RSR was out there and deliberately trying for tail slides, so they do go out on track. Having said that we were all Brits too. [8|]. Are we considered crazy?

This is currently a hot topic of discussion by the directors and Register Secretaries and with the values changing so much in a year it could be that you are considerably below what the car is worth if a claim is made near the end of your policy.
Look at how ordinary C2 Coupe's have changed in the past year.
Current market value might seem a better option so keeping records, photos and having your regular garage vouchsafe the condition.
As I said earlier, PCGB policy maybe changing on this subject.
