Valve Caps Nicked Again

Any ideas on stopping little toe rags from nicking the air valve caps from your wheels? Metal or plastics ones they get pinched!

Club Shop sell ones that can be "secured" with a tiny allen-key.

Of course they say Porsche Club GB on them so making them more attractive to nick!

I used to buy from Kwik-Fit (yes you heard the evil name) polished sleeves and unlockable caps for a couple of pounds for 4No, but they kept getting knicked!!

So, I purchased a lockable set of the valve caps from the Club Shop for my 944 after several of the other sets going onto various mountain bikes in my area!

What happened next, I caught (well my foot just missed him actually!) one of them with a pair of vice grips ripping the bloody things off!

You just cannot win!

The 911, I just keep the old black plastic, never lost one of them!

I think it's the papper boy as they go missing early morning before 8am on mondays or tuesdays. I'm going to the news agents tomorrow and have a word. And see if he has a bike with my caps on. If it's him I'm nicking his bike!

I'll take his bike and dismantle it. then put it back. []
I know it's a silly thing and theres more important t5hings in life, but it pisses me off!

Was chatting to a member the other day about having valve caps stolen. Apparrently, he had his lockable PCGB caps nicked. It happend the last time he visitted Cornbury !!!!

Whilst they are only little things they do set the car off and I can quite understand why people get annoyed about having them nicked. On top of the money, they aren't cheap, it's the thought that some little toe rag has been messing about with your car.

Had the same problem recently! Not any more though after discovering flush fit valves. Must admit its a tadge more time consuming when checking the pressures, but Try them next time you have some tyres fitted, theyre only £20 or so a set and cure the problem PERMINENTLY!!!

Be aware that you can only fit the flush fit valves to wheels with a flat area where the valve stem goes though - unfortunately this counts out my car[&o]

Simon at essentialstyling.com does them (Club member and all-round nice guy)

Never mind all this attractiveness th thieves nonsesne - which valve caps are the lightest, that's the question...[:D]

I went and spoke to the news agent this morning and told them about there papper boy. He starts at 6 am. So I'll be waiting for him[] And he has a bike to that he takes with him. Flush fit valves sound good idea. I'll check it out cheers Mark[;)]

I'm almost hoping the local paper boy has a go at mine now (Paul don't tempt fate you fool [8|]) because I have a cctv camera on the side of the house. It records to video whenever anyone sets foot on the driveway.

It was a paranoid reaction after having a previous car stolen from the drive, but you'll be amazed at the number of hours tape I have of me washing the cars [:D] If only I could rememeber to switch the damn thing off at wash time [8|]

For info the camera and PIR switch were only £89 at Wickes and hooked up to an old VCR.

Thats good to know i was looking for something like that. Mr (iv got a porsche and everyone wants to steal it ) Paranoid man!!

You won't beleive this!
I woke up at 6 and was down at the front door 620am. The paper was already there so i went outside to see if he was still there and the cheaky git put one valve cap back on! The wheel nearest to the front door. So it's deffinatly him! I went straight to the news agent and told the lady and told her that he put one back on. She said she told him about the complaint. So thats why he put one back!. I said( in my firm voice) i want all seven back from the past four months that his taking by the morning or i'm going to report him to the Police for steeling. I'm gonna get up even earlier tomorrow and wait for him.[]

I'm happy to hear that you've had one out of eight returned. I know that theft is a serious criminal offence, but I'm sorry, my family and I can't stop laughing at the events that plague your life. Sorry mate! But if it makes you feel any better, one day I woke up to find my Fuchs gone, with the car sitting on its belly. Ya gotta laugh!
