Is it necessary to take the head-off to replace a valve spring on a 944 (S2)? Would have thought not, provided you can stop the valve falling into the cylinder, but maybe there's something specific to the 944.

Valve Springs - dumb question

It can be done, but I have not doen it myself, from what i was told you need a compressor and an adapter to screw the air line into the spark plug socket. Once the cylinder has enough (130/140 psi) air in it the valve will not go down. You then need a valve spring compressor that will fit/bolt to the head. You may have to make your own, or alter a bought one to suit.
