Vandals and replacement Wing mirror mirror

Heard a noise outside my flat late last night[8|][8|][8|],

opened the window just in time to see a yoof line up and swing what looked like a 5' length of wood onto my windscreen.....[][:-][][:-][]

saw it hit[][][], but no breaking glass sound, and thankfully he moved off ( towards next car ) without hitting again...( guess this is just like getting back to your car just at the very second the parking warden puts the ticket onto the windscreen[:'(] )

called police - and was told not to go outside - I wanted to go out to make sure I could try to identify them....Credit to them in that they were on seen within 2 mins tops - but no one could ID the two lads, and they were wearing hoodies.

( Think oxford may be cursed, as only 1 month ago walking home saw a similar drunk yoof ( without batten this time ) smashing every wing mirror he came to....that time I walked a very cautious distance behind him until police arrived and arrested him - again credit to TVP as within 7mins from my 1st call the nice young lad was inside the squad car.)...sadly Mr PC then waited a further hour, until 2.30am to come to take my statement[] )

WEent out to drive the car today, oh great joy - as I un-folded the wing mirror I found the little s*d had hit the wing mirro not the windscreen. Bit of a scuff on top - but glass knackered[:'(][:(][]

so, after all that woe, any suggestions on the cheapest remedy for a shattered mirror glass.

Glass is still in place, so can you get stick-over-the-top 993 mirror glass??

Ta for any help

Evil scumbags! There aren't enough ways to describe people like this - they should be drowned in sick then their families sterilised. With shovels.

Tim, your luck with that car doesn't seem to get any better - but I do hope it improves.

Sorry, can't answer your question really. But I did fix my Mum's Corsa wing mirror with a stick on job last week and it worked brilliantly. Hope you get it sorted.

I had to replace the wing mirror motor last month, no vandals but I discovered it's a pain to remove the glass. Suppose you could buy a stick on option, not seen any around though. If you are going to replace the mirror with the original I'd suggest buying the replacement first to work out how to release the old one. There is a small hole on the underside of the housing that you use a small screwdriver to rotate a ring which releases the mirror. Porschapart were about the cheapest for the motor, second hand unit would have the heating element that the stick on item wont have of course.

HI Tim

It is actually not difficult but a little bit fiddly--see tech articles under wobbly mirror----witht he smashed mirror you can take away the bit of gallss to see insside better this will help you when you replace the mirror.

It really will only take you 10 mins--once you have the mirror---needless to say make sure that you have the new mirror well and truly locked.

Good luck

Steve

Anyone explored getting a convex mirror glass for the left hand mirror? I find the view a bit narrow compared to the view I get from my 4x4 left hand mirror.
