Varioram Health Check - help

Hi all,
I'm now into the third week of 993 ownership and am slowly getting to know the car. Having driven a number of 993's over the years, I'm a little disappointed with the low speed torque delivery on mine, it dosen't appear quite up to my previous experience of my cousins C2S. Now it is a few years since I drove that car and I do drive a big torquey diesel all week, however I'm wondering if all is not quite up to scratch in the Varioram department!

I've done a number of searches on the web and will have a look at the vaccum t-piece as detailed in the tech articles http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=119169 , however, is there anything else I should be checking? I've found mention of a resonance flap (as per pre-varioram) which I understand was carried over to the varioram spec, where is this and how do I check its working?

Thanks,
Phil

Thanks Maurice, I've been wanting a 993 for quite a few years but they were just out of reach until recently!
I'll get some help and have a look for the actuator cycling, having had a quick look at the T-piece, that is flattened so I need to get a new one of those.

Cheers for now,
Phil

Hi Phil

I came from a 996 but had a Beemer big diesel 5 before that. The 5 was super rapid off the line! I know what you mean about torque! My wife's diesel s-max can feel quick off the mark and what I find with the 993 is that the action is pretty much all past 4000 revs. I get jumped off the lights by diesels all the time ha ha. However, hold it in first to the red line and reel 'em in!!

Just wanted you to know there is another concerned about torque and 'shove'....

Mark

I'm pleased it's not just me Mark, low reving diesel torque is addictive but you can't beat the howl of a flat six on full chat!
Just need to get the varioram working........

T Piece now installed (993 110 573 000 - £4.64!!) and vacuum restored! I'll test leter and report back on the findings.
