Has anyone bought a set of these wheels, Veloce 3.6? are they any good? they certainly look good and seem quite resonable price wise at £850 +VAT per set

http://www.velocewheels.com/veloce36/

also I'm sending my cup 1's off for a refurb/recondition can anyone suggest someone good?

Thanks,
Scott

I've seen them on a 944 and they look very nice indeed. However they are quite heavy I believe so more of a wheel for the posey cruise and not a good wheel for the track.

Thanks for your response Scott, I'll compare the weights to the standard cup wheels and make a decision as I will be doing track days.

I know of at least two 964 Turbos that have them fitted and the owners are very pleased with them. They are made in Malaysia, are one piece and although the bolts are real they are purely cosmetic. The bolts are chrome plated and this seems to start to peel off on some of the bolts after a year or so although they still look good. I've heard they weigh about the same as the original Speedline 3.6 wheels, so around 11.5kgs front and 12 kgs rear compared to the Cup 1s at around 9kgs & 12kgs (see here for wheel weights: http://www.944racing.de/reload.php?urltogo=http://www.944racing.de/felgengewichte.html.) You can buy the Veloces for £900 incl VAT from Promax Motorsport in Brackley: http://www.promaxmotorsport.com/veloce_36_wheel.htm.

At present the importer of Veloces (PWS in Blackpool who "owns" the Veloce brand) is having some supply problems and I've heard there is a 3 month waiting list as a result.

You can also buy a very similar wheel made by Keskin Tuning in Germany, but it only has 32 bolts and is very heavy - 13kgs & 15kgs. You can buy these from a German eBay shop for around £600: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-Cup-993-996-944-928-Boxster-Keskin-KT-2_W0QQitemZ180162462209QQihZ008QQcategoryZ9888QQtcZphotoQQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Good luck!

Mark,

Surely that's got to be 44 KILOS?? 44lbs would be ridiculously light. It's still pretty light at 44 kilos though for a set of 4.

Regards

Dave

Just checked and its 38Kilos!
That's 9.5Kgs/ 21 lbs per wheel. Pretty light.
The Veloces are however not TUV approved....

TuV approval is a German testing standard a la BSI. In Germany it means more then in the UK as many companies there won't sell, in this case, wheels for a car unless tested/approved. Eg if you look at FvD's web site there is a set of products that they won't sell in Germany because it either has no TuV else fails some other test eg emission controls. May be that insurers there prefer tested items. Not having TuV just means they have not spent a boatload of cash to go through the process in Germany, and does not imply any safety etc issues - although I would wonder to what these wheels have been tested to. Generally, folks who retail products have to make sure they are not liable in case of failure etc.

you might want to speak with ninemeister too, I think they fitted replica's to their RS recreation, and they were supposedly "a lot cheaper than originals".. I dont know what price they are, or where they came from (might be the same wheels for all I know) but gives you another option.. I had a feeling they were german wheels though so maybe TUV'ed if thats an issue to you?..

ben

PS.. On the same wheel subject (and sorry for the hijack) does anyone know if you can get "replica's" of the multi-spoke BBS split-rims like these puppies?..
