It wont be long before spring is upon us. The 993 is no doubt fed up with the garage and would like to exercise its legs. I'm considering a drive to Venice or Rome? Anybody done the trip? Any views, itinary, and of course any hotels that come highly recommended. Look forward to hearing you.

Car parking at Venice is mostly outside the "city"...

However there is a new car-park that has recently been built (since I was last there)

Hi Mark

Did you drive to Venice, or did you just note the 'car parking situation when there? Presumably it's since changed, but if not, are you saying that you can't drive and park at your hotel? They dont have parking facilties!? So how far are the city limits from the centre?

Regards

Mike

You certainly can't drive and park at the hotel. Not unless you have a super-duper waterproofing jobbie done on the car[:D]

(and I noted the situation when I was there without a car - at that time there were NO parking facilities apart from on the mainland)

I'm afraid I've no idea - they were not there when I was...

Venice is easily and pleasantly walkable. The links above give some info on parking, but both say how bad the traffic accross the 3 mile bridge is.[&:]

I was in Venice with my 993tt last October; I left the car for a week in the multistory at Marco Polo airport. It's a 70 minute water bus ride to St Mark's Square.
