Guys & Gals,

As you can see...i've sneaked in from my Cayman forum
to pester you all.....

Since you've seen the light and have been bestowed with the splendid 3.4 engine of late....I'm interested to know, what info were you given by the OPC re fuel octane levels?

Also, as I've currently got a 3.4 boxster S courtesy car, does there still come an extra 12v socket if fitted with Bose?
If so, where the devil is it?[:)]

Alan

If it gets too dark we can whip your lid off for you. [;)]

Most of the old hands around here would either be:

(a) Very surprised to be offered advice from an OPC without there being some form of payment involved.

(b) Unlikely to believe a word of said advice.

I don't know about the socket.

I wasn't aware that the power outlet was specific to having Bose fitted. When the 987 came out there were 3 power sockets:

1 - Immediately behind the gear stick in the ash-tray thingamy
2 - In the passenger footwell just below the centre console
3 - In the central storage box under your left arm.

I was also told that the revised cars i.e. those coming in 2006 onward were likely to have at least one of these removed and it was suggested that it would be the footwell socket.

Hi John,

Mark & Claire joined our Cayman champagne tour last year, and kindly presented all Cayman owners with a DIY Boxster conversion kit...yep.. a tin opener!

BTW Mark....I've still got mine![:D]

12V socket in the footwell was dropped in MY06 to save costs on the Cayman Cabrio, even with Bose fitted as there is space int he Cabrio for the Bose subwoofer behind the seats [:D].

Caymans still got the 12V socket int he shoebo subwoofer int he passenger footwell , although not sure whetehr this is now deleted or not ?

98Ron recommended, 95Ron if none available - as its a loan car put the cheapest you can find in it. - its written on the fuel flap !

What's it like driving the "best 2 seater mid engined roadster" ever made by Porsche [8D]
If you have the car for the coming weekend you should be able to experience "topless" motoring as it's going to be very mild dry and occasionally sunny http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml

Alan,
Glad you are keeping the conversion kit safe - you never know when you might get the urge to upgrade [;)]

I don't know what the OPC's currently say about octane, but don't they usually say 95 is ok, (but the manual and the fuel flap say 98)?
In reality you put 95 in thier loaners and use 98-and-above in your own car [:D]
