Very Bad squeeling noise from NS of car

Started yesterday, sounds as if the brakes are seizing on but not constant and speed dependant! hand brake and normal brakes seem fine.
Probably just grit or somthing lodged in, or could be the anti squeel shim has come off etc.
Anything common or probable from people's experience? its a 2000 996 C2 by the way.
thanks
Jon

Jon,

I have a 2000 model C2 too...

Does the squeeling noise from the NS increase with speed ?

... if so, check your wife ;-)

This happened to mine during the Cotswold rally last year. My eagle eyed son found a small piece of what looked like sellophane wedged between the disc and the caliper and we managed to fish it out with the arm of my glasses! Made a surprising amount of noise though.

Sounds like somthing similar! took it out last night after having been in a pool car all week bearing in mind reversing it into the garage loud noise, last night nothing! and 200 odd miles later still nothing - so think it was along your lines, somthign trapped between caliper and disk
