Very quick question

I've seen a few places that in 1989 the Turbo "S" designation was dropped and all Turbos from then had the S spec.

Is that right? because I've got a 1991 turbo, and I was under the impression that it didn't have the LSD or the adjustable suspension. So whats going on? I assume that even if the suspension and LSD were standard, my car could have been specced without them at purchase. Presumably by an idiot.

So. How do I find out exactly what's on my car and what isn't?

The options sticker (in the boot, usually between the rear lights) should tell you the factory spec, you're right about the 'S' designation, it only applied to a limited edition in 1988. All 1989-on turbos had the upgraded engine, brakes, wider wheels (reverted from forged back to cast in '90). LSD was either standard (it was in '89) or a popular option, look for code 220 on the sticker. The exact spec of shocks for sports suspension (option 030) varied for later cars, only the 1988 'S' and 1989 cars had adjustable Konis, later models had sports suspension but not the exact same spec as an 'S'.

To physically test whether your car has an LSD get both rear wheels off the ground & rotate one by hand. If the opposite wheel rotates in the same direction you have an LSD, if it rotates in the opposite direction you don't.

To check for adjustable shocks look at the top of the struts under the bonnet. The Konis on my '89 car have an adjustment screw under the black cap.
