Vibrations on braking

I seem to be getting vibrations from the front of the car when breaking albeit more of a juddering. Initially this was when heavy braking was applied but it seems to be progressively at any time. Could it be something as basic as worn pads (havent checked yet).

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks

Seb

More normal for vibration to be disk related rather than pad. If it is getting worse it could be some worn linkage allowing movement.

Have you checked the inner face of the front disks? These seem to rust and pit at an enormous rate and have a marked effect on braking efficiency. The other possiblity is a build up of surface debris which can be removed by repeatedly braking as hard as possible but check the rear view mirror first!

Try cleaning out the holes in the disc to see if that helps. These tend to get clogged up with brake dust and can cause the issues you are experiencing.

I've just had to have my front pads and discs replaced. I was getting quite bad vibration on braking from higher speeds and on coming to a standstill you could feel they were not binding smoothly. The discs had quite pronounced ridges - apparently the drilled holes exacerbate this. Some time ago I had a new set put on by an OPC and they warped inside a month and were replaced FOC (and I can honestly say that I don't drive like a loon either to cause that to happen!)
