Hi all,
993C4 pre varioram 1995.
I am still trying to track down the cause of a vibration I have.
The vibration appears to be and im all most certain its from the rear, it is always there at 80mph + but will sometimes appear at a lot lower speeds such as 40mph, if this happens you bring the car to a halt, stop any forward motion, drive off again and its gone.
Ive have carried out the following:
All the wheels balanced.
Full geometry check - Specialist
Put my original wheels back on.
Had two new rear drive shafts.
New rear discs brakes fitted.

The car has MO30 suspension which has been on at least 1 year.
Could it possibly be the engine mounts. has anyone had to change theres and if so does the engine have to come out.

I think my front brake discs possibly need changing because if you brake reasonably heavy the steering wheels shakes, but I did not worry about this as the vibration from the rear and the car has recently been serviced when the rear discs were changed.

The car is well maintained by a specialist.

Engine mounts likely to cause a clunk when you drive off or after changing gear.

I had this problem - I tracked it down to loose heat shields around the silencers. They rust badly over the years. Sometimes they fall out, sometimes not.

Hope this helps.

Sorry if you've already covered this but it could be the rear heat shields ? I used to have a vibration at around 1200rpm, which completely disappeared when i replaced the heat shields (which tend to corrode over time).

Sorry - hadn't read your post properly! Sounds like we had the same issue... i replaced mine when i added RSRs (but was quoted £700 by a porsche independant just to change the shields!)
