Video camera mount for roll cage

Hi

Does anyone know where I can buy a video camera mounting bracket to fix to my roll cage? I have seen some on the net (brey kruse?) but woiuld prefer to buy in the UK in case I need some help.

I am assuming that diameter of roll cage tuning and camera mount are pretty standard. Camera is a JVC GR-DVL520A (a few years old now but works fine) and has a standard screw thread on in the base to mount. Is there anything to look out for in terms of spec that can reduce shake or is that mainly down to the camera?

I have seen some suction devices mounted to the windscreen but gather they are not allowed by all track day organsers. Thanks.

Dave - thanks for the info.

Jimmy - will call them tomorrow and have a chat, see whhat they suggest. I have a few other leads too.

Anyone else interested in a group buy on camera/camcorder mounts?

Think I will go for the B-hague SC2. £65 including VAT & post. They would only discount on orders of 10 units or more (15% off). Sales team were very helpful if any one wants to check right product for their needs.

Hi Jim.

Not sure it is worth it for a saving of £8 each, seems like a bit too much hassle. If you definitely want one, let me know and I'll order 2 and we may save on the postage!!! Better still, they are located in Nottingham so maybe you could take a look and pick one up for me while you are there. Now there's an idea [:D]. I'm serious by the way - I wasn't sure whether to go for the SC1 or SC2 - main advantage of SC2 seems to be that you can distance the camera from the roll cage a bit to make sure nothing obscures the view. I would like to have a look at them but a bit far for me - but thought you might pass through on your travels.

Cheers

PS - Amy said she didn't like you which was why she was avoiding your calls. Must have been the spin at Donington [X(][X(]

oh very drole.......and I suppose you've booked already!......welsh bankers....over paid under worked and over here![:D]

I'm in London more often than I am the midlands and none of my guys lives that direction any more....I agree on the hassle for 8 quid.........bt having said that for the difference in price I'd rather have the flexibility of the SC2......b great if you could order two if your going to order yours (maybe on sale or return? there's another option maybe?)[8|] and I'll bring the money down next time I'm around!......every other bloomin day at the mo!

thought any futher on the wheels?.....I'm waiting for Tom to come back later in the week bt I'm not holding my breath and at my level I can't see the weight making THAT much difference.....have you tried them on your car yet in regards to steering feel?

Thought you might be interested in seeing my "el cheapo" camera mount and bar. The mount is simply two pieces of 1"1/2 steel angle welded together to form an L as in the pic then simply drill holes to accept a exhaust clamp for the chosen dia of the bar you are using. dril a hole in the top so you can thread a bolt of the chosen size to corespond to the one on your camcorder. for extra stabilty weld a small steel dowel or thread to help locate the camera. It works and the whole thing costs next to nothing. Only minor downside is that it's a bit fiddly getting the bolt into the camcoder. You could make a T section which would make things a dodle.

Does anyone know if the SC2 will clamp over rollcage padding? Its just that mine is from the factory and I don't really want to cut out a section to mount this.[8|]

For those of you who were interested, I bought one of these and it was delivered today. I went for the B-hague SC2 in the end for the added flexibility and despite having a very awkwardly positioned roll cage and a not so compact camera, I managed to work the mount into a very good shooting position.

Initial impressions are that it is very well made and offers a huge amount of flexibility in terms of positioning and mounting angles. I have yet to give it a try but my initial worries about positioning have been laid to rest. Will take the car for a spin tomorrow to check all is ok and then the real test will be at SPA and the 'Ring next week.

If any one wants to give it a try or take a look, feels free to contact me and I'll bring it when I am out in the car (SPA, Ace Cafe, PCGB Donington 17 June, Dyno Day, Brands Festival etc). Cost was GBP65 all in, very helpful on the phone, delivered next day and good return policy in case it doesn't suit.

Thanks to those who provided info and let me try theirs, much appreciated.

Regards
