views on ESS 968 spoilers

I've decided on a 968 adjustable spoiler from ESS. Any views on fitment or quality (even on the standard ESS spoilers)?

TIA

One side fits really well, the other doesn't. One moulding is just plain wrong (the nearside) and I had to cut a corner off it as it doesn't follow the curve of the glass properly. It now fits but still it's subtly different between the sides.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I have no idea how easy it is to replace a rubber spoiler with one as I had a bridge already.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

That's annoying. I was expecting maybe something to do with fitment to the rubber style glass, but not a curvature problem. Do you know if they get them from V-zweeden (another alternative)? but if they do, i guess it's the same problem......

It's not confirmed but I believe at least my carbon fibre version is a Van Zweeden part.

I can't comment about the fitment issues as my plastic hatch is anything but straight, but I've been very happy with the way mine looks and works. The only thing I'd like to see in an ideal world would be plates where the spoiler meets the supports (like the genuine one has) as without them the paint will wear off if you regularly change the angle.
When my car is resprayed I may look into modifiying mine to see if its possible to add them.

I love the look of the carbon one that Fen has, and if I was doing it again I'd go for one of these (it wasn't available when I bought mine).
Best regards,
Peter.

Thanks Peter. Knowing me, I'll adjust it a couple of times when fitting, and once after the week when I've fitted it, and then it'll never move again!

I have on my list of detailing to make up an ally plate to go over the adjustment parts of the spoiler.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]The other thing I forgot to mention is that the holes for adjustment didn't line up between the carbon fibre and fibreglass parts of mine so I had to drill new ones in the fibreglass and then fill the old ones.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]The CF spoiler is incredibly light though, much lighter than my factory bridge spoiler (which is in the garage along with the ESS-supplied side trims if anyone wants to try making it fit a rubber spoiler hatch).[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

With no disrespect, I am very uncomfortable with the hanging down moulded in lugs on the ESS spoiler. They do look like a bit of a cheap cop out to avoid designing a nice solution.

I believe Porscheshop [] do a version more akin to the real thing that mounts on top of a 924 tailgate spoiler. But I could be wrong.

I see nothing on their site apart from two fixed versions.

Clubautosport do a 3-piece adjustable for £350 with no trims (A complete 6-piece ESS one is the same money), (and I've seen the state of some of CA's fibreglass in the past...... [] ), but it does look a bit slimmer in the adjusta-plate department.

God, Fens is looking more and more tempting (even though I'm a tart!)

I,ve got a 4 piece spoiler from van zweeden for £195.00 and fitted it myself on a 90 s2 and had more problem taking the rubber one off than putting the bridge spoiler on only now got to do a good spray job on it!!

thanks pal944.

Right, an addendum. Design911 have one where in the pictures it shows a thin set of adjustment plates (of course as usual the photo is rubbish though!). I know the rep that D911 has here [:'(] , but what about the use of that part? I mailed them earlier about better pics and availability in anticipation, but....) It looks similar in a way to the clubautosport part, but it's definately no the same car they use in the photo.

Great! It seems as though when you enlarge the picture they have, it then goes to a picture of the white ESS car with that spoiler. It's a bit cheaper than ESS though.....
