Ok folks the last you'll hear from me re wheels once this is done ;)

So early offset 951 Fuchs are as easy to find as the unicorn and exoensive if found. Replicas won't fit the early offset car so how about I paint the existing teledial alllots black with polished rims?

As per factory for me ..............silver if you have them redone, do sparkle silver which gives a little bling when the sun is on them.

Well, you have the bottom line now [:)]

Personally, agree its a cobble up - the single piece tele-dial is a single finish design.

Any attempt to apply cue's from another design such as fuchs with an anodised (silver) rim and black centre is summed up above.

My approach would be : 1. leave tele's Original - you have a lovely colour and the silver tele's will really suit it

2. wait for a set of fuchs, they come up once a year or so, you may get lucky

3. check some of the old '84 or '85 944 cars for sale, 2% of 'em have the rims, you may get lucky

4. consider a new set of 17" fuchs while the euro is weak & ÂŁstg is strong....they may be cheaper [8|] but of course are not OE.

good luck

Those Tele's will look fantastic - stop asking everyone else and buy them!
Your car your choice, individuality love it

Individuality or tasteless ?

regardless, just be aware the rim edge has been turned to create a fuch like appearance. This has created a thin edge on a cast component...

good luck, you may need it

I love teles on a 944. Those look stunning, but IMHO black or graphite wheels are as last-year as a matt wrap was in 2008.

Original is this year's new black, so why not save a fortune and just refurb the teles as standard? I think the black teledials with the polished rims are lovely, but personally they wouldn't make the car drive any better so I'd rather spend the money on the important bits and enjoy clocking up some miles. You don't like them - that doesn't make them tasteless, it makes them not to your taste!!
Every one's car is an individual statement not all owners of a 944 (or any model or marque) have to be sheep, there are other options, I just wish we could welcome new owners and encourage them to enjoy there cars instead of keep telling them the only way to own a 944 is to have it kept as it left the factory, that is not what enjoying 944 ownership is about for some []

I'm not a great lover of teledials but think they look awesome - but then they might ultimately annoy me being a cheap reproduction of a classic Porsche split rim.

I understand the concerns noted regarding material thickness after turning. I am assuming these are up cycled old wheels, so may well have had more material removed to get a good finish than would otherwise be the case with a new wheel.

Thus I find myself of two minds, and am going towards "If in doubt; don't "

EDIT It just goes to show that I shouldn't skim read. Duh, your wheels so you will know how much is coming off them.

I think the whole thought of pretending to be something they aren't would overcome the potential good looks. You don't put a Turbo badge on a Lux just because it looks good....or a GT3 body kit on a shopping spec 911. While you may not deliberately be trying to reproduce a very expensive split rim on the cheap there is that overtone which I couldn't live with.

With good sense like this from McNulters, I can almost find my way to forgiving him for the RG incident.

Yes, spot on with that comment. Stop faffing around and enjoy driving the thing.

Do it!

I think they look fantastic, but I have 17" twists in black so what do I know? (I also considered getting them refurbed in black with a silver lip, I'll get my coat now)

When did this community become so obsessed with "originality"? It never used to be like that. Personally I enjoy going to gatherings and seeing all the variations that are now present in the 944s. How boring it would be to look at a row of identical cars. I like the wheels, they look good.

I think they will look amazing. I've seen black teledials with a silver rim before and they do look very nice.

I don't like normal silver teledials at all [:'(]

steady on Andy. I only responded to the request Ian made for "Views?"

Perhaps because you are an ARS you feel entitled to jump in and interfere with a couple of potential views I threw in by way of response.

Those were my views Ian

I quite like the look of 18" turbo twists on the 944 and I found a set near me with good tyres at a reasonable price. They looked anthracite in the photos but when I turned up to buy them they turned out to be chrome!

I still bought them but not sure whether they look great or awful on the car. Seems I don't even know my own taste![:D]

I have mixed feelings on these. I started with anthracite metallic on the wheels on my race car but tried white the other year. They looked incredible when done but after only 2 times on track the fronts look awful, light silver is also a pain on any car used this way. Black is very practical no doubt about it but I think the original silver looks best on pretty much any wheel on these cars as long as the wheels are not going to get used on track or for huge road miles between cleaning.
