Vin/engine number location

Hi All,
I am new to all this. Can you tell me where I can find the vin number, other than under the windscreen lower edge, and where the engine number is located on the block? I have just bought a 993RS and thought I ought to make sure all details are correct...Yes you are right I should have checked before I bought it but like many of these things my heart ruled over my head. I did however take the time to find out the history of the car before I bought it. Having owned it now for a couple of months I really love the performance, handling and noise of it.
I also would like the source a RS owners handbook and if possible the porsche workshop manual for 993 RS. As a engineer by training I have a unhealthly interest in how mechanical things work !
I have just joined the Porsche Club and await my membership pack with anticipation.

Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sam

The Vin number is stamped into the structure just above the rear top edge of the spare wheel well (under the front of the fuel tank.)
There should also be a paper label in the middle of the bonnet which also has the original option codes printed on it.
There may also be a sticky label in the right hand door shut.

There are a number of "Bootleg" copies of factory workshop manuals in circulation usually in .pdf format. Try http://www.cannell.co.uk/Manuals.htm (the site has been down for a while)

Sam,

congratulations on buying the car.....sounds like you are enjoying it.

This is the link for the 993RS tech manual, if you want the actual manual itself you can get them from www.carnewal.com

Cheers,

Ben.
