As Geoff mentioned in the May edition of Porsche Post, Region 31 is visiting the Cotswold Airport (Kemble Airfield) on Sunday 17th July. This event is open to all member of PCGB, regardless of what region they are a member of.

See http://www.cotswoldairport.com/

The program so far is:

11:00 Visit the Bristol Aviation Museum (small charge of £4).
See http://www.bristolaero.com/

12:00 Visit the Bristol Britannia aeroplane.

13:00 Lunch in the AV8 Restaurant. This is an excellent eatery which caters for all tastes. Cheap, but first class. Pay for what you eat, be it full Sunday Lunch or a mere sandwich. Smell, see and touch a variety of aeroplanes as they tie up outside the restaurant. http://www.av8-cotswoldairport.co.uk/Home.html

We were also arranging flights, but sadly this has been cancelled due to the Royal International Air Tatoo taking place on the same day, just down the road. The spin off for us, however, will be a free air show as the Cotswold Airport is the designated hold for many of the display aircraft and several will be based at Kemble.

There will also be a full photo shoot outside the control tower.

I now need to have a rough idea of who is attending. Please let me know on djs5@btinternet.com. Maps and further details will be sent personally to those who wish to attend. Please let me know by the end of June. Numbers will be limited so let me know asap.

That was last Thursday during our preview. Yes, he is landing on the trailer. More to see on Sunday 17th July. Places still left.

It's the nearest thing we have to an Aircraft Carrier without renting one from the French.

Hi Guys,

I now have the menu for the 17th July at the AV8. It ranges from freshly cut sandwiches @ £3 to a full English lunch at £8.50. As the quality is first class, they seems pretty reasonable prices to me. I'll be shortly sending the menu to those of you who already have put your names down.

There are still places left, so even if you don't like aeroplanes or cars, why not come along for the food. I'm there for the AV8 Deli Burger - Butts farm pure ground Beef, seeded Bap, Dill pickle, crisp market lettuce and Tomato relish, a snip at £5.50. Might even watch the Red Arrows doing their silly stuff!

There are still a few places left, so if you have not contacted me by email : djs5@btinternet.com then do so soon. I'll be sending out menu sheets to all those who have put their names down very shortly. Here is a preview, the standard is very high, but I think you will agree the cost is very reasonable and I promise that the ambience is interesting to say the very least. Bring a picnic if you are broke!

There are a few places left. Can I remind all those that I have sent out menus etc to, to reply, if they intend to take lunch, if they wish to visit the Bristol musum, the Bristol Britannia and with their choices of food (if they intend to dine. Deadline is Friday 8th July, only 2 weeks away so don't leave it until the last minute. Arranging visits on your behalf is never easy, but the workload is less if members contact organisers early [:D]

Just a minor correction to Geoff's note in PP; my email address is of course djs5@btinternet.com.

Sorry Derek we will be at Castle Hedingham in Essex on that day, otherwise would have liked to be there

No sweat. As this year our visit coinsides with the Royal International Air Tatoo, we will not be able to fly, though we will have grandstand seats. Next year we will arrange it so that we will fly! Moreover, Geoff has a cunning plan which will be revealed early next year.

I would like to thank Derek for yesterday's event.
The weather was a bit grim to begin with but soon brightened up.
The museum and Britania aircraft was excelent as was the food and service in the AV8.
Almost everyone who booked turned up. One exception was a Club Official, an R/O who will bew getting an invoice for the lunch he ordered. I am not going to allow Derek to pay for it and the Region certainly isn't.
