Volume fluctations

Hello All,

The volume on my '05 2.7 stereo fluctuates quite a lot on both radio and CD.
I've taken it back to my local OPC (abroad) but they say it happens to a lot of 987 Boxsters and as they don't know what the fault is they can't do anything about it and that I should just live with it.
Seems a bit odd to accept this fault on such a new car of such otherwise high quality.
Has anyone experienced the same fault (with the car I mean, not the OPC!!)

No such probs with mine (987 with Bose). Have you turned on the auto volume control (adjusts volume level according to interior ambient noise)?

The response from your OPC is abysmal in my opinion. You may choose to advise the service guy that his response isn't really acceptable to someone who has just parted with £xx,xxx for a new motor.

I had a prob with my head unit (er, as in the one in the car...[;)]) with the unit loosing the pres-set stations and the OPC swapped in under warranty no question.

I agree entirely with Dapster - this is shoddy service from the OPC, and as this is (I suspect within the 2 yr warranty period) I would take it back to them to sort out under warranty.
It may be (as dapster suggests) that the auto-noise control setting is on (have a look through the settings on screen), so perhaps turning this off and then on again may help cure it.
If not, back to the OPC and don't be fobbed off - it may be a faulty head unit which may need replacing under warranty, and that's what they are there for![&:]
My wife had a BMW 330 a few years back and the stereo in that went bonkers with very varied audio (so bad once that it nearly caused an accident and we had to pull over and turn the ignition off!). BMW sorted it out under warranty, replacing the ENTIRE system including speakers, amp and head unit, as well as CD changer.
If BMW can do it, so should Porsche.
Wear hob nailed boots and a scowl - that might help[:D]!
Best of luck
Rob

Thanks guys, I'll head back to the OPC and be more forcefull. Unfortunately the OPC here has a bad name but there is only one in the country so I'll have to deal with them.
Dapster - you're right service should be better for cars that cost GBPxx,xxx. Especially in a country where a new 987 non S 2.7 starts at GBP75,000!!!
