If you are buying swecond hand so the specs are set, I'd have spec B every time

if your speccing from new I'd go for a very different spec altogether and would inlcude sports shift, Sporst Chrono plus, Bose upgrade, PSe or x51 upgrade (includes PSE)

Yes it is 2nd hand and a C2 so no X51. Spec is set

If my hand was forced spec wise I'd plump for A, I'm not really into the carbon look and B has alot of it... (sorry[:(])

My vote goes to.........spec B! Reasons:

Wish I'd spec'd the 'Classic' wheels for my C2S (and they'll be much easier to clean than the Sport Design!)
Dimming mirrors are useful
I'd get used to the carbon pack
Cruise control is useful through the road works/cameras
Love my sunroof!
Rear wiper's very useful coming out of a parking space in reverse when it's been raining
The telephone module (spec A) is useless (upgrade/repair due soon though)

but the best reason of all (but not everyone agrees of course).....the manual gearbox.

Well I would look for option C as you are clearly not full on smitten with A or B to have to ask the question to a bunch of 997 owners who buy a Porsche because they want it to be as individual in spec. as the person behind the wheel. I'm sure when the right car for you turns up you won't need to ask the audience.

Good luck finding C

Paul

Dont apologise..I am asking for opinions...ÂŁ4k plus on Carbon is madness IMHO [] but each to their own

Not really Paul. I havent seen either car in the flesh yet and I would be happy with either.
I was hoping I would get some opinions on the colours as I haven't seen Slate Grey before and I have always liked Seal. Also the Carbon interior may look too dark in the flesh but then again it may look fantastic?
Thanks anyway
Cheers
Matt

A while back a chap in the US had put together a site with photos of most of the 997 colour options and many of the interior options, the quality was far better than the Porsche configurator or searching the OPC used car photos. The link was on the TIPEC, 911.UK or Rennlist. If you have time look at those forums.

Again good luck

Paul

if pushed i would go for A as i really dont much like the classic wheels and do like seal grey tho slate is also very nice in the flesh-a bit darker (and also the colour hamster chose!)i would find so much carbon overwhelming but as you say, either would be nice cars

Forget the specs - do you want a manual or a tip?

Most opinions here are based on that - you can always change the alloys, add a PSE or X51 when time and cash allow (although finding option C in the exact spec you want would be cheaper).

I have Atlas with black leather which I love . It is already a pretty dark cabin so I doubt all that carbon will make it it much darker. Got to be a manual for me.

I don't need to read any more, as soon as I saw those immortal words ... Tiptronic.... It'll be B for me

Having owned a tiptronic Turbo I really don't have any issues with the tip. It took a while to hook into it but well worthwhile once I did.
M4ttc may require the car for everyday city use which the tip is the prefect answer too..

Being as both a claimed as similar money the Tip is worth more as an asset with Tip being an extra cost.
As pointed out 4K spent on Carbon, to make them the same price what else is missing to level the costs so ???

Im 90% in favour of spec B however if the seats are just standard then that may well swing me back to 50:50. If however Spec B has sports seats (but not adaptive) then id still favour it.

Spec B because its a manual, rear wiper, its a manual, sun roof, its a manual,

Oh and its a manual.
