It's 30% of the open market sale value but they will check this out once your car have been valued.
I guess you need to be looking at 15-20k for VRT alone.
Just when I see a nice 993 for 32k I realise that I'll need to add 30% of about 50k to that which will bring it up near 50k.
You can't trade your 944 to a garage in UK either as it's worth a third of the price as here.

Then again I actually really like the 944 and will probably end up sticking with it for quite a while anyway. Was just going through one of those "I've always wanted a 911" moods!
The issue about selling on something like a 944 is a problem though. Having watched the classifieds for a while it seems it is near on impossible to sell a Porsche privately in Ireland. They all seem to stay on for months and months. But then again they're all over priced relative to a UK import! It also puts me off buying something reasonably expensive and then facing the risk of not being able to get rid of it for a reasonable price if I wanted to later on.

I Kayak a bit so I have another car for that so I'm ok for now. I guess, at the end of the day, if it doesn't go, I'll have a perfect 944 softie to cruise around in for the summer.
The VRT is just too muhc of a gut wrencher for me. The thoughts of handing that over to our useless government for them to waste it is sickening.
